CatFinder is a mobile app for iPhone, iPad, and Android that lets you vote for the most appealing cats in your neighborhood using images from social media. The app presents images tagged with "cat" that also contain the geographic coordinates, and allows users to vote for their favorite cat using the now-infamous "swipe left” feature used on popular dating apps. Users will be divided among those appalled by how much personal information is unwittingly disclosed by cat owners, or enthralled by the opportunity to judge other people’s cats.
CatFinder will use the same cute and disturbing back-end data that drew international attention to the website “I Know Where Your Cat Lives,” created by Florida State University professor Owen Mundy and featured on news programs from Oregon to the Netherlands.
